Xanadu left Australia in May 1971 and spent 7 long months touring war-torn Vietnam entertaining U.S. and Australian troops. (see the successful book titled, "My Rock 'N Roll War" published in 1995 on Dog Tag Press....all about the bands experiences in Vietnam)
In 2003 Group members were awarded the Vietnam Logistical and Support Medal by the Australian Government for their valued worked in VN. After a year in Thailand where they were very successful ( and enjoyed their own TV show) Xanadu left for the UK upon the invitation of Maurice Gibb (Bee Gees) This blog says the band were 'lightweight'......perhaps the writer should do a little more homework? With major UK tours, their own 24 track London recording studio and successful records across Europe..lightweight? mmmm!

I was the drummer in this band.....ahh, the wonders of the internet! We had some great days, amazing times and awesome adventures in Xanadu......five young kids from Queensland, Australia out to conquer the world! My brother Barrie and I returned to Vietnam in 2008....the first time since our days playing there for the troops.....it was good to go back and rest a few 'ghosts'! Great to see Steve Carroll's name up there....it's been well over 30 years since we've been in touch! Onya, Steve!

I live on the Sushine Coast in Qld, I met Clair Morrison some time ago. I was subsequently introduced to the rest of the band. Whilst not still playing as a band, all members are still involved in making music although maybe not full time. Clair still sings, Don still plays and sings, Barry is still writing and producing. I am writing this posting as 'new' fan of the band and it's members. They were then and still are multi talented and beautiful people.

Hi Lorraine
Yes you are right I have not met Wayne, but I have seen him perform briefly on some scratchy footage from back in the day. I worked with Clair for a few years and we became firm friends. My wife and I are english but have been in oz for 25 years. We lived in London as teenagers and watched a lot of bands from 69 onwards and shared a lot tatses in music.

I remember your band playing at our small club at Camp Eagle, VietNam. I was with some guys who picked you up at Phi Bai for the show than took you back after the show. I can remember being in the club at 8th RRFS and talking to everyone. Still remember talking to Claire and how nice she was. That was June or July 1971 and still remember you all on stage after all this time.Thank You for the memories.

I remember all the army guys that we met were incredibly helpful and easy going. They often helped us out of difficult situations.Always coming to the rescue with transport of whatever was needed. They were also great audiences.
Dan you were obviously one of those people who helped us. It was a busy time two shows a day for six days a week for seven months.
Thank you for writing your message as we are about to start a New Year.

Went to School with Don And Claire in Bundaberg High, I last saw Don and Barrie at Toombul music store
1981-82, I wish I would have kept in touch such a great Family.
Don is still talked of in Brisbane, only yesterday I mention his name to Gentleman who works with guitars and remembers him well, was well respected in the industry.
